Elon Musk says beautiful solar roofs are the key to sustainable future

Elon Musk, Tesla's chief executive and chairman of SolarCity, unveiled Oct. 29 his vision for a sustainable and integrated future. 

Musk, speaking on a street from the set of Desperate Housewives, pointed to the houses all around and asked the audience if they noticed anything different. All the roofs were fitted with solar tiles.

The solar tiles are connected to Powerwall 2.0 batteries, which store the energy throughout the day to provide electricity when there is no direct sunlight.

 The key takeaway is that solar power must be made desirable, an approach Musk has already taken with regards to electric cars. "Who wouldn't want to live in a house like that?" Musk asked. Read more...
