Forget Black Friday. California hopes #GreenFriday will catch on.

Come Nov. 25, California State Department of Parks and Recreation officials are hoping that the state's residents and visitors will be feeling green. The Save the Redwoods League, California State Parks and the California State Parks Foundation are teaming up to provide first-come, first-serve free passes to 116 of the Sunshine State's 280 state parks for a "#GreenFriday" event. 

It's not uncommon for those in charge of public utilities to want the people who actually form the public to enjoy the fruits of their tax dollars. In this case, it's the day and size of the promotion that makes the focus so intense.  Read more...
