One fateful day in December 1989, motivated by the sheer overcomplexity of existing programming languages, Guido van Rossum set out to build his own. He wanted it to be clean and easy to read, as well as open source so users could play a part in its development. And so he set out to do some programming magic and eventually came up with what we know today as Python.
On top of being one of the fastest growing programming languages of 2018, Python is also predicted to dethrone Java as the lingua franca of coding — and for good reason. Its incredible versatility allows it to be the driving force behind many widely-used applications.
