Bill Gates, the Microsoft founder, is a huge fan of Elon Musk's artificial intelligence research company OpenAI.
Musk cofounded the non-profit in 2015 with entrepreneur Sam Altman, and the company received more than $1 billion in funding at its inception. OpenAI's goal is to develop AI tools that benefit humanity, and it has so far mainly done work with technology that teaches itself to reach goals set out by its engineers, such as walking.
Its latest AI benchmark is no different.
The company trained five AI-powered bots to play the online multiplayer battle game Dota 2 together by hyper-accelerating the game and fitting 180 years worth of it in one day. That means the bots received "100 human lifetimes of experience every single day," said OpenAI's chief technology officer Greg Brockman to The Verge. Read more...
