Like a floating vacuum cleaner, this boat is sucking plastic out of rivers

Recently unveiled by Dutch non-profit The Ocean Cleanup, The Interceptor is designed to suck plastic debris out of some of the most polluting rivers in the world.

While similar inventions have previously come up, The Ocean Cleanup claims their machine is different. It's possible to mass produce it and that it's not river specific but can rather be deployed in waterways with varying characteristics. Read more...
