TCL announces smartwatch for seniors, new type of 'zero eye strain' display

China's TCL took to the semi-virtual stage of this year's IFA trade show in Berlin and announced a dizzying amount of gadgets, concepts and new technologies. 

Among them, several stand out. One is the Movetime Family Watch MT43a, an Apple Watch lookalike aimed at seniors. It's got 4G connectivity, allowing users to make and receive hands-free calls. 

Other notable features are medication reminders, heart rate monitoring and automatic fall detection. Other typical smartwatch feature such as activity tracking and sleep monitoring are present, too. 

The design of the watch should surprise no one, as it looks a lot like the Apple Watch, with an 41x48.5mm AMOLED display. However, unlike the Apple Watch, the Movetime is optimized for seniors, with larger icons, and watch faces with graphics that should be very easy to see.
