To hell with offices: Desks, chairs, cubicles — who needs ‘em. Matt Bennett has certainly proven that you don’t need a cubicle to flourish. Bennett (who goes by Matty Bee) is the owner and head chef of The Lucky Bee — a Thai street food-inspired joint situated in Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Bee opened the restaurant with his husband, Rupert Noffs, in 2016 and quickly gained a reputation for being the type of authentic pan-Asian spot where a boisterous ‘tude can be satisfied along with an empty stomach.  

When you step into the muted pink dining room at Lucky Bee, you quickly realize that this place isn’t like other restaurants, which is probably because Bee isn’t like other people. He’s an amalgamation of everywhere he’s been and everything he likes: The U.K., Australia, New York, and Asia. What makes him so unique is how he uses his influences — a sentiment that follows him outside of his kitchen.  Read more...
