Google's self-driving car company Waymo just opened up a pilot program in Phoenix, Arizona, letting people get free rides in its driverless minivans.
The program, Waymo said in a blog post Tuesday, is open to "hundreds of people with diverse backgrounds and transportation needs." And those folks won't just get one or two rides. The program will give them access to Waymo's fleet of cars every day, at any time, as long as they keep their destinations in the Phoenix area.
More precisely, Waymo is looking for people in parts of the Phoenix metropolitan area, which includes Chandler, Tempe, Mesa and Gilbert. Only folks that are 18 years or older may apply, and only one per household. But once you're accepted, all eligible members of your family can take the rides.
